At Heartland Periodontics, we want our patients to feel confident when speaking or eating. For this reason, Dr. Kirsch offers a remarkable solution with dental implants.
Dental implants are the ideal way to restore your smile after losing teeth. They are the gold standard of treatment options because they look and feel like your natural teeth, and they provide substantial health benefits that other restorations can’t.
We compose our implants of three parts: the implant fixture which acts as the root of your tooth, the beautiful porcelain crown which is the only portion anyone will see, and the abutment which connects the other two pieces.
If you currently wear dentures, then you understand how unreliable it can be. Whether it slips around in your mouth or causes you to slur your words, dentures can make your life difficult. Thankfully, dental implants offer a sturdy alternative that can get you back to the essential things in life.
Beyond their stability, dental implants offer an array of benefits, including:
Dental implants are an exceptional way to restore a single gap in your smile. However, some of our patients are missing more than one tooth. In these situations, Dr. Kirsch may recommend pairing a dental implant with another form of treatment.
For example, if you’re missing two or more teeth and they are nonadjacent, we can use various single dental implants to restore your smile.
Likewise, if the gaps are adjacent, Dr. Kirsch might suggest using an implant-supported partial bridge. This type of dental bridge uses your natural teeth as anchors for a single prosthetic, while also using a dental implant to secure it in your jawbone. These bridges are durable and stable, meaning you’ll spend less time in our office and less money on maintenance.
Other times, our patients may be missing an entire arch of teeth. For their convenience, we offer full-arch restorations with an implant-supported denture. This option provides the immediacy of dentures with the reliability of dental implants.
You’ll probably feel some discomfort, bruising, or swelling in the days after your surgery but this should go away. You can use ibuprofen or other anti-inflammatory drugs to mitigate these effects in the meantime. You can also reduce the swelling and inflammation by applying ice to the concerned area on and off in 20-minute intervals.
People tend to choose dental implants due to them being the most natural looking and feeling replacement option on the market. Dental implants won’t slide around when you eat, speak, or laugh, unlike dentures or other alternatives. Another significant benefit of dental implants is that they’re the only treatment option that stimulates healthy jawbone growth.
Dental implants last longer than any other tooth-replacement option. If you care for your implants properly with daily brushing and flossing and maintain good oral health, your dental implants could last a lifetime.
At Heartland Periodontics, dental implants give our patients a simple solution to their tooth loss. We can restore how their smile’s look, feel, and function—providing you with a restoration that you’ll be proud to show off.
If dental implants sound like something that you could benefit from, the first step in the process is your consultation with Dr. Kirsch. During this time, he’ll discuss your previous dental history, your lifestyle, and what you’re hoping to get out of treatment. Then, he’ll develop a plan that will get you the smile you deserve.
